TTRPG harvesting and crafting rules add depth by rewarding

Kill a monster, bottle it up, and all day long you’ll have good luck.
With the new harvesting and crafting rules in GnG you can actually build items(existing and custom).

Harvesting from monsters

All monsters have parts that can be harvested from their corpse.
But beware messing up can destroy the parts you want, and if they are volatile there may be dire consequences.

Variety of ingredients

There are many different types of ingredients with their different traits that provide different kinds of effects when used. This system allows for you and your GM to pair up the traits in new ways to make your own new ingredients.

Inventory space

All items have a weight and a shape. This is because your inventory space is… a space. In order to carry all the things you make you’ll need to get them to fit into that space.
This turns encumbrance from a boring number tracker into a fun mini-puzzle, plus it highlights all your items to your players so they don’t forget what they’ve been carrying around for the last 20 sessions.

Custom crafting recipes

All magical items have their unique crafting recipe with ingredients that contain specific traits. This method of magic item creation makes it very modular and allows for players and GMs to pair together unique ingredients to make completely new items.

Reinforcing

Weapons and armour have a quality to them. They are normally “Standard” however with damage, time, or some curses they can become “Ruined” meaning that they don’t work quite as well. However this flows both ways and if you want to you can reinforce your weapons and armour to make them “Reinforced” increasing their effectiveness dramatically.

Purifying liquids

Potions, poisons, and other brew have a unique bonus to other solid items. All liquid items have a level of purity and when you craft them the better you do the more pure they are.

Cooking

What’s better to “craft” than a nice delicious meal? Well those ingredients that you harvested can be used in multiple ways including in making meals for you and your companions. These can range from full five course fine dinning to simple snacks to munch on the road.

Flaws

When crafting magical items, trying to contain the literally eternal either, there is a chance you might mess up a little… or a lot.
When these mistakes happen you might lose ingredients however if you’re desperate not to lose progress you might be able to save it in exchange for a permanent flaw with the item. The severity of the flaw and its exact nature depend on the item, the level of failure, and how often you fail during its creation, and can be determined by you and your GM.
