Rules
The Backbone of Immersive Roleplaying
Here you will see a breakdown of the major rule segments in GnG. Whilst not a full disclosure of the exact written rules, these pages should help you understand what they actual rules are attempting to create.
The 1st draft PDF of the basic rules will be available to download here when ready, however all updated versions will only be available on the patreon until the games release.
Combat
Fast, tactical, and varied. Those are the three words we wanted to build our combat system around;
– The AP and initiative systems encourage players to stay engaged on everyone’s turns ensuring they’re prepared when their own turn starts.
– Varied movement speeds, unique monster abilities, and focus on line/cone based AOEs make good positioning vital to success.
– Moral as a core element of a creatures stat-block ensures that fights are not just slogging matches to the death, focusing on breaking your opponents spirit is just as (if not more) effective.
Magic
In GnG there are talent-trees covering not just arcane magic, but also Psionics, Elementalism, and Logomancy.
Each style of manipulating reality functions with its own unique method, benefits and drawbacks.
Roleplay
Rules for roleplay does not mean that every conversation must be tracked with initiative and actions, instead these rules help create an overarching foundation for your campaign to flourish.
Reputation helps to track how your players are perceived in different lands and by different people, but how in-depth you go is up to you.
Creature bonds frame conversations on an individual level, and social encounters allow you to take the intense negations and transform them from a single roll into something genuinely tense and thrilling.
Harvesting and crafting
Creating legendary artifacts, whether they be pre-made items or custom creations from your own imagination, is an integral part of character progression.
In GnG, we’ve expanded crafting from a single roll that is just fast-forwarded through during “Downtime” to a system that incites adventurers through hunting down the parts and pieces required.
Exploration
Travel and discovery are massive elements of any adventure and in GnG exploration is not just fun but also tactical.
The defined rules allow for GMs to set up situations forcing players to choose between different paths or having multiple time-sensitive events occurring simultaneously. This is possible without rules, but by laying out the rules for the players the puzzles can be solved without the need of GM intervention.
Progression
In GnG the main form of mechanical character progression is through completing Goals. These are how your character levels but they also allow you to advance magic items, gain talents, increase your proficiency or anything else your GM allows.
You can choose if you want to stay well-rounded or fully delve into a single aspect of your character and let everything else fall behind.
